Senate Bill No. 2497

ENTITLED, AN ACT RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT - RHODE ISLAND HOUSING RESOURCES ACT OF 1998

This act would appropriate three million four hundred thousand dollars ($3,400,000) for the housing rental subsidy program and four hundred thirty-nine thousand dollars ($439,000) for homeless prevention and assistance.

This act would direct the chairperson of the housing resources commission to appoint a nine (9) member committee to formulate rules, regulations, and standards for the operation and condition of homeless shelters for consideration and/or adoption by the commissioner.

Senate Bill No. 2696

ENTITLED, AN ACT RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT - RHODE ISLAND HOUSING RESOURCES ACT OF 1998

This act would authorize a bond referendum in the amount of seventy-five million dollars ($75,000,000) to provide funds to the housing resources commission to finance the costs of additional housing and neighborhood revitalization programs. Section 1 of this act would take effect upon passage. Section 2 of this act would take effect upon the approval of this act by a majority of those voting on the question at the election presented by section 2 of this act

ENTITLED, AN ACT RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- RHODE ISLAND HOUSING RESOURCES ACT OF 1998

This act would create the Neighborhood Opportunities Program, and would reference a referendum at the general election in November 2014 on a proposition to issue seventy-five million dollars ($75,000,000) in bonds to fund that program. Sections 2 and 3 of this act would take effect upon passage. The remainder of this act would take effect upon the approval of the act by a majority of those voting on the question at the general election specified in Section 2.

ENTITLED, AN ACT RELATING TO TAXATION -- REAL ESTATE CONVEYANCE TAX (This act would increase the real estate conveyance tax from two dollars ($2.00) to two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per five hundred dollars ($500) of the sale price, and allocates a portion of the increase to the housing resources commission.)

This act would increase the real estate conveyance tax from two dollars ($2.00) to two dollars and fifty cents ($2.50) per five hundred dollars ($500) of the sale price, with a portion of the increase to be administered by the department of administration, office of housing and community development, through the housing resources commission.
